We must stop SOPA

Wikipedia is among the websites that has shut down Wednesday in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA.
If you're reading this blog you probably at least have an appreciation for the fact that the internet is a place where we can still freely share ideas without intervention from anyone.  Now our federal government wants to strengthen its grip on our private lives.  I don't see this as a partisan issue in the least so if you're typing some anti-GOP response right now please stop.  This is about our basic freedoms including the freedom of speech.  Why does a government think it has the right to tell me what I can and cannot do in the privacy of my home. Stopping piracy is just the first step in a very slippery slope. Make laws against the actions and punish me if I break those laws, but don't handcuff technology or the internet.  The virtual world may be the last "frontier," and it's about to be lost.  Educate yourselves on this issue and speak up!
